About

Thank you for visiting my listing! If you met me you would know how passionate I am in about seeing my clients succeed in Myofunctional therapy and in helping them conquer their oral habits. So many of my clients have struggled with these issues for years and even decades, and I UNDERSTAND what you are going through. I have been there. How amazing it is when a client visits and is pleasantly surprised to see that their concerns CAN be addressed and overcome with dedication mixed in with a little “fun”! I want to help you or your loved one on the path to success!

However, oral habits such as Thumbsucking, Nailbiting, and Pacifier habits are not all that I do. Adults and children with tongue thrust, tongue tie, Orofacial Myofunctional imbalances and lip issues have a home in my practice. Clients seeking preparatory assessment and exercises and post care for tongue tie, lip tie, and jaw surgery make up a significant portion of my practice as well. Don’t let my name “The Thumblady” TM fool you. About half of my practice are adults! When you have been around for over two decades you literally have seen it all!

Since I am in private practice rather than being part of a larger (and often impersonal) clinical practice, clients always have access to me personally to share their successes, reach out for guidance and support, or send me a quick video to ask a question about their program or an exercise. All clients in my practice see me and only me…no associates, no therapy assistants…only myself. That is important. What you see is what you get!

I have been in private practice since 1997 and currently have an office in Long Grove, Illinois, and see clients via secure telepractice, currently serve on the IAOM Board of Examiners, and proudly served as President of IAOM from 2014-15. I am a Retired Registered Dental Hygienist, and was trained in OM by some of the pioneers in our profession….William and Julie Zickefoose, Marge Snow, Rose Van Norman, Roberta Pierce, and too many other names to mention here. And yes, research and writing about oral habits, the connection between airway and Orofacial Myofunctional issues, and oral growth and development and their relationship to tongue thrust is another one of my passions! If you visit my website, www.thumblady.com you will see so many great articles on Orofacial Myofunctional imbalances and oral habits, so go for it.

Thanks again for opening my listing and I hope I get the opportunity someday to meet you or a loved one and help you and your family conquer any Oral Myofunctional issues that you seek care and healing for. Let’s take this wonderful journey together.

Fondly,
Shari
